+12.7% YoY
Adjusted EBITDA

+13.6% YoY
Net Income

What Went Right
  • Specialty rental revenue grew 25% YoY, with all seven business lines growing double digits.
  • Adjusted EPS was a record $12.76, up 22% YoY, and adjusted EBITDA margin hit 46.6% including a $49M gain.
  • Full-year guidance raised: revenue up $500M to $17.5-17.8B and adjusted EBITDA up $300M to $7.975-8.125B.
What to Watch
  • Excluding the gain, adjusted EBITDA margin fell 40 bps YoY, pressured by lower-margin ancillary/re-rent mix and 20-30 bps of fuel cost headwinds.
  • Used equipment adjusted gross margin declined to 47.3% from 48.3% YoY, with OEC recovery at 52.9%.
  • Local markets remain only low-single-digit growth, with recovery dependent on rates, housing and small business investment.
Management Guidance
  • Full-year 2026 total revenue guidance raised to $17.5B-$17.8B.
  • Full-year 2026 adjusted EBITDA guidance raised to $7.975B-$8.125B.
  • Gross rental capital expenditure guidance raised to $4.85B-$5.25B; free cash flow maintained at $2.15B-$2.45B.
Investor Lens
The thesis is stronger after this call: United Rentals delivered record revenue, EPS and EBITDA, raised full-year guidance, and cited a deep large-project pipeline that extends into 2027. Core margin performance excluding ancillary mix and one-time gains was positive, while net leverage stayed low at 1.8x. The company also noted S&P raised its outlook to positive, keeping an investment-grade upgrade possible. The main watch item remains mix and fuel-related margin pressure, but management offset it with cost discipline and positive fleet productivity.
