The Utility Solution segment offers critical components that allow the grid to transmit and distribute energy, as well as the communications and controls technologies, including utility transmission and distribution components, such as arresters, insulators, connectors, anchors, bushings, enclosures, cutouts, and switches; and solutions that serve the edge of the utility infrastructure comprising smart meters, communications systems, and protection and control devices. It sells its products under various brands and/or trademarks to the electrical distribution, substation and transmission markets, as well as markets for grid protection and controls, utility meters and advanced metering infrastructure and telcom and gas distribution markets. What Went Right
  • Organic sales grew 10%, with Electrical Solutions up 18% and data center sales up approximately 65%.
  • Utility Solutions first-half book-to-bill of ~1.2x provides high visibility into a stronger second half.
  • NSI closed in June, contributed $35M in a partial month, and is tracking to ~$0.20 accretion in 2026.
  • Full-year adjusted EPS guidance raised to $20.25-$20.55 from $19.30-$19.85.
What to Watch
  • Adjusted operating margin fell ~50 bps YoY to 23.9% as cost inflation outpaced pricing and productivity in the quarter.
  • Electrical Solutions adjusted operating margin declined 130 bps to 21.2%, driven by inflation, restructuring, and integration investments.
  • Q2 free cash flow fell to $213M from $221M on working capital timing and acquisition costs.
  • Pro forma net debt/EBITDA rose to ~2.9x after the $3.0B NSI acquisition, with full-year interest expense up ~$170M.
Management Guidance
  • FY26 total sales growth raised to +16%-18% with organic growth of +9%-11%.
  • FY26 adjusted EPS raised to $20.25-$20.55; adjusted operating margin expected at 23.1%-23.4%.
  • FY26 free cash flow conversion expected at ~90%; Q3 adjusted tax rate expected ~24%.
Investor Lens
The thesis is stronger after this call: organic growth accelerated across both segments, order visibility improved, and the NSI acquisition adds meaningful accretion in 2026 and 2027. Data center strength of ~65% and Utility book-to-bill of ~1.2x signal durable multi-year demand. Near-term watch items are inflation, tariffs, and higher leverage, but price actions and free cash flow conversion support the raised outlook.
