🔍 JJSF is showing a sector-leadership setup because Sector RRG has Consumer Staples in the Leading quadrant with the trail still strengthening, it's within 16% of its 52-week high, and it's hugging the 21 EMA. The main caution: the Fortress Balance preset's Backtest win rate is only 42.4%. Net: Mixed signal stack, not a recommendation. ? RRG 52W High Technicals Backtest

📊 MIXED J&J Snack Foods Q2 2026: Adjusted EPS up 14.3% to $0.40; sales $344.8M; Apollo savings on track.
Revenue & Profitability
Total net sales declined 3.2% year-over-year to $344.8 million. Adjusted EBITDA rose 9.5% to $28.7 million, and adjusted EPS increased 14.3% to $0.40. Adjusted operating income was $9.6 million versus $8.9 million in the prior year. Reported EPS was $0.09 due to $6.5 million in non-recurring charges. The effective tax rate was 28.1%.
Outlook
Management sees demand softness in Q2 due to rising fuel costs, particularly in convenience stores and food service. Consumer sentiment remains wavering. The environment in Q3 is expected to be similar to Q2. The company is optimistic about upcoming movie releases (Super Mario Galaxy, Star Wars: Mandalorian, Toy Story 5) to boost frozen beverage theater sales. No formal guidance was provided.
Growth Drivers
Innovation is a key growth driver: shipped over $2 million in new products in Q2, including Dippin' Dots for retail ($900,000), Dogsters ice cream ($900,000), and Luigi's Mini Pops ($200,000). Food service pretzels grew $6.7 million with dollar share up 4.3%. The ICEE QSR test expanded to additional markets. Share repurchases and dividends returned over $37 million to shareholders in the quarter.
Balance Sheet & CapEx
Capital expenditures in the second quarter were $16 million. No specific forward CapEx guidance was given. The company is investing in plant consolidations and Apollo-related cost reduction initiatives.
Margins
Consolidated gross margin improved 190 basis points to 28.8%, driven by Apollo plant efficiencies and favorable mix in food service and frozen beverage. Operating expenses increased to $97.5 million, including $6.5 million in non-recurring charges. Distribution costs as a percentage of sales rose from 11.7% to 12.1%, partly due to $400,000 in higher fuel costs. Further margin expansion is expected from Apollo savings in the second half.
Key Risks
Rising fuel costs are a headwind: if fuel remains at current levels, distribution costs could increase $3.5 million in the second half. Consumer demand is softening due to fuel price uncertainty. Retail sales face higher slotting fees and trade investments. A large cookie customer reduced orders due to inventory, but a rebound is expected in Q3. A frozen beverage customer decided to insource maintenance, causing a decline in service sales but no meaningful margin impact.

Projections are built from each company's audited annual financials (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) over the last 5 fiscal years. Forward assumptions — revenue growth %, EBITDA margin, D&A (USD millions), interest expense, tax rate, and capex — are AI-generated using historical context and refreshed twice a year: after the December results season and after the September/Q4 results season.
