📊 MIXED Leonardo DRS Q1 2026: Revenue $846M, adjusted EBITDA up 28% YoY
Revenue & Profitability
Q1 2026 revenue was $846 million, up 6% year-over-year. Adjusted EBITDA was $105 million, a 28% increase, with margin of 12.4% (up 210 bps). Net earnings were $62 million, diluted EPS $0.23; adjusted diluted EPS $0.26 (up 30%). Full-year 2026 guidance raised: revenue $3.9B–$3.975B, adjusted EBITDA $515M–$530M, adjusted EPS $1.26–$1.30. Q2 2026 expected revenue ~$900M, mid-12% adjusted EBITDA margin.
Outlook
Management sees an elevated global threat environment with limited near-term easing, driving enduring demand for defense capabilities. The fiscal year 2027 budget request proposes $1.5 trillion in defense spending, with priorities aligned to DRS strengths: shipbuilding, air and missile defense, counter-UAS, unmanned systems, and space. The administration's reconciliation package is expected to accelerate procurement. Congress will negotiate final funding, but the prioritization supports DRS.
Growth Drivers
Growth is driven by strong demand across multiple domains: tactical radars (global demand), DAIRCM (aircraft survivability), Columbia-class electric propulsion, counter-UAS, space sensing (SDA Tracking Layer Tranche 3), and missile seekers. The company is also expanding into unmanned surface vessels and ground vehicles with integrated counter-UAS solutions. Funded backlog reached new company records, providing multi-year visibility.
Balance Sheet & CapEx
CapEx in Q1 was light due to timing but is expected to ramp during the year to approximately 5% of sales, consistent with prior guidance. The company is investing in production capacity, especially for tactical radars, and in R&D for next-generation technologies. Free cash flow conversion is targeted at ~75% of adjusted net earnings for 2026, with increased working capital investment to fund growth.
Margins
Q1 adjusted EBITDA margin expanded 210 bps year-over-year to 12.4%, driven by favorable mix (higher tactical radar and infrared sensing volume), operational leverage from higher revenue, and better raw material pricing (germanium). IMS margins improved 90 bps on strong Columbia-class execution, and ASC margins improved 290 bps. For full year 2026, margin improvement is expected to come from IMS segment. Q2 margin expected mid-12%.
Key Risks
Management noted that the timing and level of material receipts, pace of program execution, and capture/book-to-bill of new awards are primary drivers of revenue variability. The global threat environment is elevated, but no specific risks were flagged in Q&A. The company operates on a 'wartime footing' but saw no material disruption from employee reserve duty in Israel.

Financial Model
Projections are built from each company's audited annual financials (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) over the last 5 fiscal years. Forward assumptions — revenue growth %, EBITDA margin, D&A (USD millions), interest expense, tax rate, and capex — are AI-generated using historical context and refreshed twice a year: after the December results season and after the September/Q4 results season.

DCF Valuation
Fair Value = Σ(FCFt / (1+WACC)t) + Terminal Value. Terminal Value uses the Gordon Growth Model: FCF5 × (1+g) / (WACC−g). Default WACC: 10% (US risk-free ~4.5%, equity risk premium ~5.5%). Default terminal growth: 3% (long-run US nominal GDP proxy).

CAGR Tracker
Expected 5-year CAGR = (DCF Fair Value / Current Price)1/5 − 1. Assumes fair value is reached in exactly 5 years — a mechanical estimate only.
