About

Balchem Corporation develops, manufactures, and distributes specialty performance ingredients and products for the nutritional, food, pharmaceutical, animal health, medical device sterilization, plant nutrition, and industrial markets worldwide. It operates through three segments: Human Nutrition and Health, Animal Nutrition and Health, and Specialty Products. The Human Nutrition & Health segment supplies ingredients in the food and beverage industry. Its products include spray dried and emulsified powders, extrusion and agglomeration, blended lipid systems, liquid flavor delivery systems, juice and dairy bases, chocolate systems, and cereal systems, as well as ice cream bases and variegates. This segment offers specialty vitamin K2; microencapsulation solutions for various applications; and human grade choline nutrients and mineral amino acid chelated products for nutrition and health applications. The Animal Nutrition & Health segment provides microencapsulated products to enhance health and milk production and delivering nutrient supplements in ruminant animals; chelation technology, which offers enhanced nutrient absorption for various species of production and companion animals; methylsulfonylmethane; and choline chloride, a nutrient for monogastric animal health. The Specialty Products segment distributes ethylene oxide and ammonia primarily for use in the health care industry; and single use canisters for sterilizing re-usable devices. This segment also markets and sells propylene oxide, a fumigant to aid in the control of insects and microbiological spoilage, as well as to reduce bacterial and mold contamination in shell and processed nut meats, processed spices, cacao beans, cocoa powder, raisins, figs, and prunes; and chelated minerals for high value crops. 📊 MIXED Balchem posts record Q1 2026 revenue of $271M, adjusted EBITDA of $74M
Revenue & Profitability
Q1 2026 revenue was $271M, up 8.1% year-over-year. GAAP earnings from operations were a record $56M, up 9%; net income was $40M, up 8.7%. Adjusted EBITDA was a record $74M, up 12.1%, and adjusted EPS was $1.33, up 9%. Cash from operations was $40M with free cash flow of $34M.
Outlook
Management sees healthy demand across most end markets and expects continued quarterly year-over-year consolidated growth despite geopolitical and inflationary headwinds. The company anticipates modest margin compression due to rising petrochemical-based input costs, primarily in Animal Nutrition, but remains confident in its ability to manage through pricing adjustments.
Growth Drivers
Key growth drivers include double-digit growth in Human Nutrition minerals and nutrients, low-to-mid-single-digit growth in food ingredients and solutions, and strong performance gases demand in Specialty Products. In Animal Nutrition, the European monogastric business is recovering (double-digit volume improvement) and ruminant penetration continues. Geographic expansion, especially hiring internationally, is a major strategic focus.
Balance Sheet & CapEx
Not discussed in this earnings call.
Margins
Gross margin expanded to 37.3% (up 210 bps), driven by sales growth, manufacturing efficiencies, and a favorable mix toward higher-margin businesses. Adjusted EBITDA margin was 27.4%. Management expects modest margin compression going forward due to inflation timing lags, but margin dollars should continue growing.
Key Risks
Risks flagged include raw material inflation (petrochemical-based), supply chain disruptions from the Middle East conflict, and the timing lag between cost increases and pricing adjustments, particularly in Animal Nutrition. Geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainty remains a broad risk. The European monogastric business has benefited from EU anti-dumping duties, but Middle East tensions could impact input costs and freight.

Financial Model
Projections are built from each company's audited annual financials (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) over the last 5 fiscal years. Forward assumptions — revenue growth %, EBITDA margin, D&A (USD millions), interest expense, tax rate, and capex — are AI-generated using historical context and refreshed twice a year: after the December results season and after the September/Q4 results season.

DCF Valuation
Fair Value = Σ(FCFt / (1+WACC)t) + Terminal Value. Terminal Value uses the Gordon Growth Model: FCF5 × (1+g) / (WACC−g). Default WACC: 10% (US risk-free ~4.5%, equity risk premium ~5.5%). Default terminal growth: 3% (long-run US nominal GDP proxy).

CAGR Tracker
Expected 5-year CAGR = (DCF Fair Value / Current Price)1/5 − 1. Assumes fair value is reached in exactly 5 years — a mechanical estimate only.
