Three Core Alert Systems

Finmagine operates three independent alert structures for US stocks, matching the same systems available for India:

  • Price Target Alerts: Simple trigger rules notifying you when a US stock's price crosses above or below your target (available to all registered members).
  • Enhanced Technical Alerts: Indicators monitoring RSI thresholds, EMA Golden/Death crosses, 52-week boundaries, or volume surges (Premium access).
  • Multi-Condition Alerts: A full rules engine allowing you to combine up to 5 metrics (Price, PE, PB, Volume, etc.) using AND/OR logic under the main US Alerts dashboard (Premium access).
Telegram Delivery: When a US alert triggers, a message is pushed immediately to your linked Telegram account containing the plain-English "why this fired" explanation and a link back to the stock. There is no email delivery for alerts today — connect Telegram to receive notifications.

How & Where to Configure Alerts

Alerts are configured across two main interfaces:

  1. Stock Detail Page: Click the bell icon (🔔) in the header of any US company details page (e.g. /us/stock/?symbol=AAPL) to set basic Price Targets or Technical triggers.
  2. Alerts Dashboard: Navigate to the main US Alerts page (/us/alerts/) and click **+ New Alert** to build flexible Multi-Condition rules for any US stock.

All configured alerts, triggered histories, and active toggles are centrally managed in your My Alerts dashboard.

Evaluation Timings & Account Limits

To maintain data integrity and platform performance, we enforce boundaries on evaluation timing and rule limits:

Alert System Evaluation Frequency Active Limit Access Tier
Price Targets Nightly, ~3:00 AM IST (after US close) Max 20 Active Free & Premium
Technical Indicator Triggers Nightly, ~3:05 AM IST (after US close) Max 20 Active Premium Required
Multi-Condition Rules Nightly, ~3:10 AM IST (after US close) Max 30 Active Premium Required

Note: US crons run Tuesday through Saturday IST (the morning after each US trading day), after the nightly US EOD fundamentals and price-history pipelines finish.

Price Targets

Basic Price Target Alerts

Price Target alerts are the simplest way to stay updated on key support and resistance levels. When configured, the system evaluates the stock's current EOD price against your targets.

Triggered price alerts are automatically moved to a "triggered" status, pausing them. To re-enable them, you can dismiss them or delete/recreate them directly from the stock page bell popover.

Technicals

Enhanced Technical Alerts

Enhanced alerts monitor mathematical momentum and valuation indicators, evaluated against daily close history:

RSI Thresholds
Triggers when the 14-day Relative Strength Index crosses below (oversold) or above (overbought) your target values (e.g. RSI < 30).
EMA Crosses
Golden Cross (50 EMA crosses above 200 EMA) and Death Cross (50 EMA crosses below 200 EMA) signals.
52W Boundaries
Alerts when a stock gets within a specified percentage of its 52-week high or 52-week low.
Volume Surge
Triggers when EOD trading volume exceeds a threshold multiple of its 20-day historical average (e.g. volume spike > 3x average).

These alerts run nightly, ~3:05 AM IST, after US technical indicators are synced from historical close prices.

Multi-Condition

Flexible Rules Engine (My Alerts)

For advanced research, the main US Alerts Dashboard allows you to combine fundamental, valuation, and price parameters using logical expressions. This acts as a personalized scanner that alerts you the moment a US stock matches your exact investing thesis.

Available Parameters:

AND vs OR Logic: Selecting ALL conditions (AND) means the alert will trigger only if all parameters are met on the same day. Selecting ANY condition (OR) will trigger if any single condition is met.

"Why This Alert Fired" & Telegram Delivery

Every triggered alert across all three systems — Price Target, Enhanced Technical, and Multi-Condition — shows a short, plain-English explanation of exactly what happened, right next to the trigger. No more staring at a "Triggered" badge wondering which of your conditions actually fired, or re-deriving it yourself from the raw numbers.

Where you'll see it:

Example: A price alert set for "AAPL above $220" that triggers shows: "AAPL crossed above $220.00 (now $224.15)." A multi-condition alert with OR logic only cites the specific condition(s) that actually evaluated true on that run — not the full list of conditions you configured, so you're not left guessing which one it was.

📲 Get Alerts on Telegram

US alerts are delivered exclusively via Telegram — every triggered alert is pushed in real time, with the same why-fired explanation and a deep link straight back to the stock page.

  1. Go to /account/connected-apps.php and find the Telegram Alerts card.
  2. Click Connect Telegram. A Telegram chat opens in a new tab with Finmagine's alerts bot.
  3. Tap Start in that chat.
  4. Return to the Connected Apps page and refresh — the card now shows ✓ Connected.

The Telegram Alerts card on /account/connected-apps.php, connected — the other cards on this page (Active Connections, Using Finmagine with ChatGPT) are for a separate feature, MCP/OAuth connectors, covered in the Connected Apps guide.

Once connected, any Price Target, Enhanced Technical, or Multi-Condition alert that triggers — on either the India or US side of your account — is pushed to your linked Telegram automatically, one connection covers both markets. Click Disconnect on the same card at any time to stop receiving them.

Telegram is required for delivery: Unlike India's alert systems, US alerts have no email fallback — connect Telegram to actually receive your trigger notifications.

🧠 Knowledge Check: US Alerts System

What are the three distinct alert systems for US stocks on Finmagine?
1. Price Target Alerts (bell modal, free+)
2. Enhanced Technical Alerts (technicals, premium)
3. Multi-Condition Alerts (flexible rules engine, premium)
Where are US Price Target alerts configured and evaluated?
Configured via the bell icon on the /us/stock/ detail page, evaluated nightly (~3:00 AM IST), and triggered notifications are pushed to Telegram.
What parameters can be evaluated in US Multi-Condition Alerts?
Price ($), Day Change %, Volume (shares), PE Ratio, PB Ratio, Market Cap (USD millions), and % from 52W High.
When are US Multi-Condition and Enhanced Technical alerts evaluated?
Tuesday through Saturday IST (the morning after each US trading day), roughly 3:00-3:10 AM IST, after the US EOD data pipeline finishes.
How many active alerts can a user save across each US system?
Max 30 Multi-Condition alerts (main dashboard), Max 20 Price Target alerts, and Max 20 Enhanced Technical alerts — same caps as India.
What is the difference between AND and OR logic in alerts?
AND logic triggers only when ALL conditions are met simultaneously. OR logic triggers if ANY single condition is met.
Can a free tier user configure Technical or Multi-Condition US alerts?
No. Technical/Enhanced and Multi-Condition alerts require a Premium subscription. Free tier users are limited to basic Price Target alerts.
What happens to a US Multi-Condition alert after it is triggered?
It is recorded in the Trigger History with a snapshot of the stock's data, and it remains active to trigger in subsequent runs if conditions continue to be met.
How can you temporarily pause a US alert without deleting it?
Go to the main /us/alerts/ dashboard and toggle the active/inactive slider on the specific alert's card.
What does an alert status of "triggered" vs "cancelled" mean in Price Target alerts?
"Active" is awaiting a price cross. "Triggered" means it crossed and a Telegram notification was sent. "Cancelled" means the user deleted or dismissed the alert.
What are the supported indicators in US Enhanced Technical Alerts?
RSI (above/below), EMA Golden Cross/Death Cross, Near 52W High/Low, and Volume Surge.
Why are technical and multi-condition rules evaluated overnight?
Calculating technical ratios (like RSI) and metrics requires verified daily close and volume data, which is only finalized after the US EOD fundamentals/price-history pipeline completes.
What does a "Volume Surge" trigger in Enhanced Alerts represent?
It triggers when a stock's single-day EOD trading volume exceeds a specified multiple (e.g. 3x or 5x) of its 20-day historical average.
How are US alert triggers delivered?
Exclusively via Telegram — once the nightly evaluation cron detects a match, a Telegram message is dispatched with the why-fired explanation and a link back to the stock. There is no email delivery for US alerts.
Can you configure an alert on any US ticker, including dual-class shares?
Alerts can only be configured on active US companies with valid symbols in the database. Dual-class tickers like BRK.B are accepted in either dot form (BRK.B) or dash form (BRK-B) — both normalize to the same underlying symbol.
Where do I see "why an alert fired" for US stocks?
On the bell panel of any US stock page (accent-coloured line under the trigger date) and on the Trigger History tab of /us/alerts/ (full-width row under each triggered rule). It applies to all three alert systems.
How do I connect Telegram for US alert delivery?
Go to /account/connected-apps.php → Telegram Alerts card → Connect Telegram → tap Start in the Telegram chat that opens → return and refresh the page. Status shows ✓ Connected once linked. One connection covers both India and US alerts.
Is Market Cap measured the same way in US and India Multi-Condition alerts?
No — the underlying field name (market_cap_cr) is shared, but on US stocks it holds USD millions, while on India stocks it holds INR crores. Set your threshold in the right unit for the market you're screening.
