Three Core Alert Systems

Finmagine operates three independent alert structures designed to match different investing and trading workflows:

  • Price Target Alerts: Simple trigger rules notifying you immediately when a stock's price crosses above or below your target (available to all registered members).
  • Enhanced Technical Alerts: Indicators monitoring RSI thresholds, EMA Golden/Death crosses, 52-week boundaries, or volume surges (Premium access).
  • Multi-Condition Alerts: A full rules engine allowing you to combine up to 5 metrics (Price, PE, PB, Volume, etc.) using AND/OR logic under the main Alerts dashboard (Premium access).
Email Delivery: When an alert triggers, an email notification is dispatched immediately to your registered address containing a snapshot of the stock's metrics at that moment.

How & Where to Configure Alerts

Alerts are configured across two main interfaces:

  1. Stock Detail Page: Click the bell icon (🔔) in the header of any company details page (e.g. /stock/?symbol=INFY) to set basic Price Targets or Technical triggers.
  2. Alerts Dashboard: Navigate to the main Alerts page (/alerts/) and click **+ New Alert** to build flexible Multi-Condition rules for any stock.

All configured alerts, triggered histories, and active toggles are centrally managed in your My Alerts dashboard.

Evaluation Timings & Account Limits

To maintain data integrity and platform performance, we enforce boundaries on evaluation timing and rule limits:

Alert System Evaluation Frequency Active Limit Access Tier
Price Targets Continuous / Intraday (5:30 PM run) Max 20 Active Free & Premium
Technical Indicator Triggers Daily EOD close (7:45 PM run) Max 20 Active Premium Required
Multi-Condition Rules Daily EOD close (4:30 PM run) Max 30 Active Premium Required

Note: When the EOD cron evaluates technicals and multi-condition rules, it waits for the official exchange Bhavcopy upload to prevent false positives.

Price Targets

Basic Price Target Alerts

Price Target alerts are the simplest way to stay updated on key support and resistance levels. When configured, the system evaluates the stock's current market price against your targets.

Triggered price alerts are automatically moved to a "triggered" status, pausing them. To re-enable them, you can dismiss them or delete/recreate them directly from the stock page bell popover.

Technicals

Enhanced Technical Alerts

Enhanced alerts monitor mathematical momentum and valuation indicators, evaluated against daily close history:

RSI Thresholds
Triggers when the 14-day Relative Strength Index crosses below (oversold) or above (overbought) your target values (e.g. RSI < 30).
EMA Crosses
Golden Cross (50 EMA crosses above 200 EMA) and Death Cross (50 EMA crosses below 200 EMA) signals.
52W Boundaries
Alerts when a stock gets within a specified percentage of its 52-week high or 52-week low.
Volume Surge
Triggers when EOD trading volume exceeds a threshold multiple of its 20-day historical average (e.g. volume spike > 3x average).

These alerts run daily at 7:45 PM IST after technical indicators are synced from historical close prices.

Multi-Condition

Flexible Rules Engine (My Alerts)

For advanced research, the main Alerts Dashboard allows you to combine fundamental, valuation, and price parameters using logical expressions. This acts as a personalized scanner that alerts you the moment a stock matches your exact investing thesis.

Available Parameters:

AND vs OR Logic: Selecting ALL conditions (AND) means the alert will trigger only if all parameters are met on the same day. Selecting ANY condition (OR) will trigger if any single condition is met.

🧠 Knowledge Check: Alerts System

What are the three distinct alert systems on Finmagine?
1. Price Target Alerts (bell modal, free+)
2. Enhanced Technical Alerts (technicals, premium)
3. Multi-Condition Alerts (flexible rules engine, premium)
Where are Price Target alerts configured and evaluated?
Configured via the bell icon on the /stock/ detail page, evaluated intraday/EOD, and triggered emails are sent immediately.
What parameters can be evaluated in Multi-Condition Alerts?
Price (₹), Day Change %, Volume (shares), PE Ratio, PB Ratio, Market Cap (₹ Cr), and % from 52W High.
When are Multi-Condition and Enhanced Technical alerts evaluated?
Every trading day after market close. Multi-Condition rules run at 4:30 PM IST, and Enhanced Technical rules run at 7:45 PM IST.
How many active alerts can a user save across each system?
Max 30 Multi-Condition alerts (main dashboard), Max 20 Price Target alerts, and Max 20 Enhanced Technical alerts.
What is the difference between AND and OR logic in alerts?
AND logic triggers only when ALL conditions are met simultaneously. OR logic triggers if ANY single condition is met.
Can a free tier user configure Technical or Multi-Condition alerts?
No. Technical/Enhanced and Multi-Condition alerts require a Premium subscription. Free tier users are limited to basic Price Target alerts.
What happens to a Multi-Condition alert after it is triggered?
It is recorded in the Trigger History with a snapshot of the stock's data, and it remains active to trigger in subsequent runs if conditions continue to be met.
How can you temporarily pause an alert without deleting it?
Go to the main /alerts/ dashboard and toggle the active/inactive slider on the specific alert's card.
What does an alert status of "triggered" vs "cancelled" mean in Price Target alerts?
"Active" is awaiting a price cross. "Triggered" means it crossed and emailed. "Cancelled" means the user deleted or dismissed the alert.
What are the supported indicators in Enhanced Technical Alerts?
RSI (above/below), EMA Golden Cross/Death Cross, Near 52W High/Low, and Volume Surge.
Why are technical and multi-condition rules evaluated at EOD?
Calculating technical ratios (like RSI) and metrics requires verified daily close and volume data, which is only finalized after the official EOD Bhavcopy is published.
What does a "Volume Surge" trigger in Enhanced Alerts represent?
It triggers when a stock's single-day EOD trading volume exceeds a specified multiple (e.g. 3x or 5x) of its 20-day historical average.
Are alert emails sent immediately when a condition is met?
Yes, once the evaluation cron scripts run and detect a match, trigger emails are compiled and dispatched immediately to your email address.
Can you configure an alert on an unlisted company?
No. Alerts can only be configured on active NSE-listed companies with valid symbols in the database (e.g. TCS, INFY).
